Terms of use
Last updated October 17, 2026
Welcome to ClassCake. By using classcake.com you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the site. They are written in plain language; if anything is unclear, email david@classcake.com.
1. What ClassCake is
ClassCake is a free, independently run daily puzzle activity for K–8 classrooms, run by one person, David (“we”, “us”). It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or operated by any school, district, state education agency, the U.S. Department of Education, or any puzzle publisher.
2. Who can use ClassCake
ClassCake is made for adults (teachers, school staff, parents and caregivers) to lead with children in a group setting. It offers no accounts or features for students. If you use ClassCake with students, you are responsible for supervising that use, for deciding what is appropriate for your classroom, and for following your school's and district's policies. Students should not use ClassCake on their own.
3. What you may do
- Display ClassCake puzzles to your class, in person or in a live virtual classroom.
- Print or screenshot puzzles for use with your own students.
- Share links to ClassCake with other teachers.
4. What you may not do
- Copy, scrape or republish the puzzle library, in whole or in large part, on another site, app or product.
- Sell ClassCake puzzles or include them in paid materials.
- Remove attribution, or present ClassCake material as your own or as an official publication.
- Try to disrupt, overload or break into the site, or use automated means that degrade it for other people.
- Use ClassCake in a way that breaks the law or your school's policies.
5. Our content
The ClassCake name, logo, games, puzzles, writing, site design and software belong to us and are protected by copyright. Nothing in these terms transfers any right in them to you beyond the use described above. Educational standards cited on the site belong to their publishers; see the credits on the standards page. If you hold rights in something that appears on ClassCake and want it corrected or removed, email us with the page and what you would like done, and we will review and act promptly.
6. Accuracy and suitability
We check every puzzle for accuracy, reading level and kid-safety, but with thousands of puzzles mistakes can slip through. The answer key in the corner of every puzzle lets you check as you go; please tell us about anything wrong. Puzzles are a good-faith, teacher-to-teacher resource, not professional or curricular advice. ClassCake is a supplementary activity and is not a substitute for your curriculum, and it makes no claim that using it will produce any particular learning outcome.
7. Analytics
ClassCake uses Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages and puzzles get used, so we know what to improve. It sets cookies and collects the usual aggregate signals (pages viewed, rough location, browser and device type). We never send it names, email addresses, class names or anything typed into the site, we do not use it for advertising, and it does not load at all if your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal. Details are in the privacy policy. The site works the same if you block analytics.
8. Other sites and donations
ClassCake links to other sites, including TV on a Rolling Cart and Your State Standards, which we also run. Every site has its own terms and content, and we are not responsible for sites we do not run. ClassCake is free; optional donations are handled by Ko-fi under its terms, are not refundable, and grant no special access.
9. No warranty
ClassCake is provided free, “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted, error-free or always available. We may change, pause or discontinue any part of the site, including your class's saved progress and streaks, at any time.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss arising from your use of the site, from reliance on anything published on it, or from the loss of locally saved progress. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you have paid us to use the site, which is nothing, because it is free. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits, in which case they apply only as far as the law permits.
11. Disputes
If something goes wrong, talk to us first at david@classcake.com. Most problems are fixable in a day.
If we cannot work it out, these terms and any dispute about the site are governed by the laws of the United States and the U.S. state where ClassCake is run, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring a claim somewhere else. To the extent the law allows, claims must be brought individually, not as part of a class or representative action. Either side may use small-claims court for a claim that qualifies.
If you use ClassCake as part of your work for a public school or other government body, nothing in these terms asks you to agree to anything your employer is not allowed to agree to under its own laws (for example, rules on governing law or liability). Those parts apply only as far as they are permitted.
12. Privacy
How we handle information is described in our privacy policy.
13. Changes
We may update these terms at any time. When we do, we'll change the date above, and continuing to use ClassCake after a change means you accept the updated terms. If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in force.
